Hazrat Anas (with whom Allaah is pleased) narrated that once one of the poor villagers came to Prophet Mohammad (Peace be upon him) and said, “Because of drought poverty has become so acute that the animals do not get grass to eat and because of that our children are not getting milk and that is why they are unable to speak.” On hearing this Holy Prophet who was standing in the Pulpit (Member) raised hands and prayed for rain. Before even finishing the Duaien, the Sky became cloudy, and immediately it started raining heavily.
Allaah! The Creator of the skies and earth, the Knower of the unseen and seen, the Sustainer and Owner of everything. I bear witness that there is none worthy of worship except you. I seek Your Protection from the evil of myself and the evil of the devil (Satan) and his trap.
Oh Allaah! All praise is only for you. None can narrow that which you have widened. None can widen that which you have narrowed. None can guide the person whom you have misguided. None can mislead the person whom you have guided. None can give that which you have withheld. None can withhold that which you have given. None can make near that which you have made distant. None can make distant that which you have made near. Oh Allaah, send down upon on us your Blessings, Your Mercy, Your Grace, Your Favour and Your sustenance. Oh Allaah, I ask you your everlasting Bounty which never changes nor terminates. Oh Allaah! I seek safety and security from you on the Day of fear. Oh Allaah! We seek refuge in you from the evil of that which you have granted us and from the evil of that which you have not granted us. Oh Allaah! Make faith (Iman) beloved to us and decorate and adorn our hearts and make us dislike disbelief, transgression and disobedience.
The Holy Prophet has also taught us how to pray Allaah and seek supplication (dua) from the burdens of debts and also from worry and grief.
O Allaah! I seek only Your Refuge from all worry and grief. And I seek only Your Refuge from being helpless and lazy. And I seek only Your Refuge from being cowardly and parsimonious. And I seek only Your Refuge from being overpowered by debts, and the hard-heartedness and oppression of others. "Oh Allaah, only you created my soul and only you will give it death. Its death and life are under your control alone.) If you give it life, then protect it, and if you give it death, then forgive it. Oh Allaah! I beseech you to grant me good health and ease.
When the Prophet Muhammad received instructions from Allaah to migrate to Madinah, Hazrat Abu Bakr asked if he might accompany him. The Prophet then told him to prepare for the journey.
Hazrat Ayesha and Hazrat Asma, of whom Allaah approved, quickly packed their luggage for the journey. Hazrat Abu Bakr had already arranged two camels, one of which he offered to the Prophet, while he mounted the other himself. The Prophet Muhammad and Hazrat Abu Bakr thus started their voyage to Madinah. The first stop of this caravan was the cave of Thaur. Hazrat Abu Bakr entered the cave first and put it in order. He closed almost every hole in the cave which he could find. After that he requested the Prophet (peace be upon Him) to step in. He entered the cave and, wanting to relax, rested his head on the legs of Hazrat Abu Bakr and slept. Just by chance, a venomous snake peeped through one of the holes of the cave. Hazrat Abu Bakr did not want his master to be disturbed, so he wedged his heel in the mouth of the hole. The snake bit him, causing him great pain, but he didn't stir. Then a tear drop fell from his eyes on to the face of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and he woke up. On seeing Abu Bakr in agony, he inquired: "What is the matter, Abu Bakr?" He replied, "May my parents be sacrificed on you, a snake has bitten me." The Prophet immediately dropped some saliva from his tongue on to the wound and the venom of the snake stopped affecting Abu Bakr. Now, one can imagine the amount of affection the Companions of the Prophet Muhammad had in their hearts. This deed was so important that Hazrat Umar Farooq (with whom Allaah was pleased) wanted to sacrifice all the deeds in his life, if Hazrat Abu Bakr (with whom Allaah was pleased) gave back the rewards for this deed that Allaah had given to him.
After this incident the Holy Prophet made Duaien for Hazrat Abu Bakr and said, “May Allaah bless you, as you accepted me as a Prophet when people disbelieved in me. You helped me when people left me alone, you had faith in me, when none had, and you gave me solace during my sufferings. May Allaah grant you a Heaven which will be similar to mine?”
Before nightfall, the Prophet (Peace be upon him) and Hazrat Abu Bakr found a cave to hide in. Hazrat Abu Bakr was scared that the Disbelievers would find them there. And soon enough, the Disbelievers reached the very place they were hiding in. They were standing just outside the cave! Hazrat Abu Bakr became very scared, and said “O, Prophet of Allaah, if the enemies look at their feet they will see us” Seeing his condition, the Prophet said, “Don’t be frightened, don’t be upset, Surely Allaah is with us. Not only this Prophet (Peace be upon him) also said “When the third person is Allaah with the two persons, then why are you worried for their safety?” What great faith and hope Holy Prophet had on Allaah! Even in such a dangerous situation he was not afraid, but had absolute faith on Allaah. He has left an ideal example for us. His enemies were just near him, with their swords drawn, but he was calm!
When his enemies reached the cave, they saw a spider’s net all over the mouth of the cave. There was also a pigeon’s nest below with eggs, so they decided that it was not possible for anyone to be there inside the cave. So they did not enter the cave and went away. That was how Allaah saved the lives of those who had faith in Him! We should never despair even when the odds are against us, but have faith in The Almighty Allaah.
Almighty Allaah is the Most Merciful.
There was a man who after committing a series of ninety-nine murders realized that he was doing bad deeds. He approached a man and explained to him of his deeds and sought his guidance as to how he can do repentance to get rid of the sins he had committed. On hearing this, the man said, “You have committed such a heinous crime and The Almighty Allaah will never forgive you.” At this the criminal immediately took out his sword and killed him on the spot and the number of murders rose to one hundred. Then he went to a pious man and told him everything who advised him to go to a village where pious people lived. There he would be taught as to how to do repentance. While he was on his way to that village the Angel of death caught up with him, and another Angels descended from Heaven, It was an Angel who takes into account the good deeds of human beings. This Angel stood for the man and said that, since he was on his way to the pious people village to repent for his heinous crime, so his soul should be given to him, to take it to Heaven. But the Angel of death said that since this man had not made any repentance and he was on his way only, his soul should be given to him to take it to Hell.
While they were arguing thus Almighty Allaah send His other Angels to impart justice. He said that if the man was closer to the village of the pious people would go to Heaven. And if he was closer to the village from where he had started his journey, he would go Hell. So both the angel started measuring the distance. The man was closer to the village from where he had started but Almighty Allaah’s mercy fell on him, so, The Almighty Allaah reversed the distance. He was then found nearer to his prior destination and was thus taken to Heaven. |
